Dade Correctional Institution: Sexual Predator

The Florida Department of Corrections motto is, "You never walk alone". In reality, once you walk inside a state correctional facility, you are truly alone.

Dade Correctional Institution (DCI) is a Level 5 state prison in Florida with the largest in-patient mental health units. 

Housed are the most dangerous high-profile convicted felons in the entire United States.

In 2016, DCI in-patient mental health unit Inmate Caprio, Fernandito DC# X81705 attempted to sexually assault a female Correctional Officer while she was conducting a security check. Inmate Caprio stalked & planned his attack with 1 goal, to rape this Correctional Officer.

Inmate Caprio was almost successful. Inmates that heard this Correctional Officer's screams are the ones who rescued her from what would have been a horrific sexual assault. (A Scandalous and Sad Story of Florida Inmate William Westervelt )

Even though The Florida Department of Corrections Inspector General recommended: 

784.07 (1)(d) Florida statutes, Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer

Inmate Caprio, Fernandito WAS NEVER CHARGED for this assault.

So many violent convicted felons who still continue to commit crimes while incarcerated are never held accountable by The Florida Department of Corrections. 

By ignoring & tolerating violent behavior, The Florida Department of Corrections is continuously putting the safety of all Correctional staff at risk.

• (08/22/2023) Wakulla Annex: Inmate Fernandito Carpio (X81705) assaulted an officer. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued.

• (02/08/2023) Lake Correctional Institution: Inmate Fernandito Carpio (X81705) assaulted an officer. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued.

• (10/27/2022) Lake Correctional Institution: Inmate Fernandito Carpio (X81705) assaulted an officer. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued.

• (09/08/2022) Lake Correctional Institution: Inmate Fernandito Carpio (X81705) assaulted an officer. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued.

• (07/20/2022) Wakulla Annex: Inmate Fernandito Carpio (X81705) assaulted a staff member. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued.

• (09/24/2021) Santa Rosa Correctional Institution: Inmate Fernandito Carpio (X81705) assaulted an officer by biting them. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued. Medical staff examined the officer and noted injuries.

• (05/09/2020) Lake Correctional Institution: Inmate Fernandito Carpio (X81705) assaulted an officer by headbutting them. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued.

• (04/11/2020) Lake Correctional Institution: Inmate Fernandito Carpio (X81705) assaulted two officers by kicking them. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued.

• (05/24/2017) LIVE OAK, Fla.: Inmate Fernandito Carpio (X81705) assaulted the officer at approximately 10:00 a.m. ET. Inmate Carpio head-butted the officer in the mouth. Staff responded appropriately, and the inmate was subdued. Inmate Carpio will receive a disciplinary report for this assault.

Although Inmate Fernandito, Caprio has continued to commit violent criminal offenses while incarcerated, he has had the privilege to sue the

• (05/23/2022) CARPIO filed a Prisoner - Prison Condition lawsuit against CARPIO. This case was filed in U.S. District Courts, Florida Northern District. The Judges overseeing this case are MARK E WALKER and MICHAEL J FRANK. The case status is Pending - Other Pending. 

• (01/25/2021) CARPIO, FERNANDITO filed an Other - Writ Of Mandamus lawsuit against STATE OF FLORIDA. This case was filed in Orange County Circuit Courts, Orange County Circuit Courthouse located in Orange, Florida. The Judges overseeing this case are John Beamer and Denise Kim Beamer. The case status is Disposed - Other Disposed.
