Miami-Dade County Public Schools: AED Failure

AEDs are basic life-saving medical devices required to be in every single Miami-Dade County Public School.
Automated external defibrillators (AEDs) are portable, life-saving devices designed to treat people experiencing sudden cardiac arrest, a medical condition in which the heart stops beating suddenly and unexpectedly.
The combination of CPR and early defibrillation is effective in saving lives when used in the first few minutes following collapse from sudden cardiac arrest.
Just like any other medical device, AEDs need to be serviced & maintained. Batteries need to be checked & expiration dates verified to ensure this life-saving machine is functioning correctly in the rise of an emergent situation.

This AED is located at Miami-Dade County Charter School
As you can see this AED device has NO battery & opened, expired (2017) pads.

Coincidentally in 2017, NBC6 covered a story exposing dozens of expired AED devices within Miami-Dade County Public Schools; "Of the nearly 1493 electrode pads in Miami-Dade public schools, 629 expired between 2007 and 2016."

Not only did NBC6 report on dozens of expired AED devices. On February 2, 2017, Sophia Pierre Louis lost her 12-year-old son, Rodjeany at Thomas Jefferson Middle School. “We miss him. Always. Always,” she said.
What was the response received once the school administration was notified about their non-functioning AED machine?
I made sure I sat down with school staff, broke down the data of how many students have allergies, have orders for epinephrine & researched policies & procedures before sending off my "lengthy" & "misguided" email.

I also verified CPR/AED certification for staff, which NO ONE had current.
Not only did I have the pleasure of receiving this corrosive response, Mr. Barboustsos formally introduced himself in person shortly after, letting me know he was responsible for my employment.

After multiple conversations with various staff members, NO ONE found Mr. Barboustsos's behavior unusual. In fact, Mr. Barboustsos is referred to by staff members as Mr. NO.

But should this response really be shocking? Not after learning this was the same school that employed our favorite School Nurse, Theresa Ann Prewitt AKA Nurse Cocaine. The same staff who gossiped to me about very odd & disturbing behavior but yet allowed her to be around children.

So who holds the responsibility of overseeing various health service programs in Miami-Dade County Public Schools?

As we can clearly see, Miami-Dade County Public Schools has major problems when it comes to the safety measures & protocols implemented in our school system.

Will it take another child losing their life before Miami-Dade County Public Schools decides to take accountability for their gross negligence & mismanagement?

Dade Correctional Institution: SOS Suicide Watch

Inmate Castro, Genaro DC # M86868 was serving time at Dade Correctional Institution for murder.
On May 10, 2019, Inmate Castro returned to Dade Correctional Institution from Larkin Hospital

The standard protocol for any Inmate returning from an outside hospital is to have a complete evaluation by the Infirmary Nurse. If the Inmate is received after hours, the on-call provider needs to be notified.

At 0230 Inmate Castro was received without a Nursing report to Inpatient Mental Health Unit for Self Harm Observation Overflow. During Nursing rounds, it was discovered Inmate Castro had multiple ACE wrap bandages on his wrist, ankles & knee. Nurse Wilnie Chery,RN Medical Infirmary Nurse not only falsified the Nursing documentation but was negligent by letting this Inmate have a tool to attempt to commit suicide while on Suicide Watch.

Miami-Dade County Public Schools: Brenda Wilder, RN

Brenda Wilder, RN, director of Comprehensive Health Services For Miami-Dade County Public Schools

Head director & overseer of all Miami-Dade County Public School Medical professional employees.

Mrs. Wilder also works with The Health Information Projectsits on The Children's Trust is responsible for The Manuel For School Health Facilitators.
This photo was taken on December 02, 2021, at Ronald Reagan High School during a COIVD-19 training for school staff health care providers.

As you can see, Mrs. Wilder felt entitled to be the only individual out of a group of 50 without a mask on during this COVID-19 training.

Just a month after Mrs. Wilder paraded around a COVID-19 training inside a High School, without a mask & bullied a minority Nurse, Mrs. Brenda Wilder, RN & Director of Comprehensive Student Health Services again went maskless again to give a telling interview on NBC6...

Miami-Dade County Public Schools were so concerned about low COVID-19 positivity rates, they concocted a plan to inflate numbers by testing children with BIAX-NOW Rapid Tests while at school.

If Miami-Dade County Public Schools were genuinely concerned about our children’s health, they would have implemented COVID-19 testing at the start of the school year, not halfway into it.

So what’s the big deal might you ask?

After completion of this invasive test, even if the results are NEGATIVE, parents/guardians still need to pick up their children & follow Miami-Dade County Public School COVID-19 protocol as you heard Mrs. Brenda Wilder explain in her interview with NBC6.

The implementation of COIVD-19 testing was going to be used as a leveraging tool to have children return to virtual learning. It was never about children's "health".

In fact, Mrs. Wilder in reality has ZERO care when it comes to any basic safety standards in Miami-Dade County Public Schools. (See Emails Below)

After a month of phone calls & emails, I finally had the pleasure of having Mrs. Wildrer berate me like a child that broke their mother's favorite vase.

Just fathom the type of person who becomes so angry at a School Nurse for inquiring about an AED machine & basic medical supplies. Brenda Lee Wilder, a Registered Nurse is such a person.

Instead of attacking School Nurses for caring about the safety of children, Mrs. Wilder should seek to get her finances in order. 4 bankruptcies in 2 states with countless evections.

Even with a current salary of $85,530, currently funded by Miami-Dade County taxpayers, Mrs. Wilder still can not pay her own bills.

Dade Correctional Institution: Nurses Love Affair

Erin Nichole Kartis (now Erin Nichole Beckman) is a Nurse who briefly worked at Dade Correctional Institution... until she was fired for having a sexual affair with Inpatient Mental Health Until Inmate, Daniel Phillip Beckman.

Beckman DC #459334 was a violent Inmate that would self-mutilate to manipulate staff to get what he wanted, including Inpatient Mental Health Nurse, Kartis.
Now, this was not Beckman's first Nurse love affair. Beckman had multiple sexual affairs with various correctional staff at different state prisons throughout Florida.

So why was this allowed to happen under the supervision of The Florida Department of Corrections?

Even after Nurse Kartis was discovered to be having a sexual affair with Inmate Beckman, she was never criminally charged, nor had her nursing license revoked.

If the only punishment for committing a felony in the 3rd degree is termination, what is keeping staffing from having sexual contact with Inmates?
944.35 Authorized use of force; malicious battery and sexual misconduct prohibited; reporting required; penalties.—

(b)1. As used in this paragraph, the term “sexual misconduct” means the oral, anal, or vaginal penetration by, or union with, the sexual organ of another or the anal or vaginal penetration of another by any other object, but does not include an act done for a bona fide medical purpose or an internal search conducted in the lawful performance of the employee’s duty.
2. Any employee of the department or a private correctional facility as defined in s. 944.710 who engages in sexual misconduct with an inmate or an offender supervised by the department in the community, without committing the crime of sexual battery, commits a felony of the third degree, punishable as provided in s. 775.082, s. 775.083, or s. 775.084.
3. The consent of the inmate or offender supervised by the department in the community to any act of sexual misconduct may not be raised as a defense to a prosecution under this paragraph.
In fact, Nurse Kartis applied for a marriage license on April 23, 2012, in Miami, Florida. Just 7 after her prison beau was set to be released on March 30, 2012.

The happy couple tied the knot on May 25, 2012, & even had children together.

Nurse Kartis is no angel, in 2011 she attempted to stab a Law Enforcement Officer from the City of Orlando Police Department.

Instead of facing any serious consequences, Nurse Kartis was able to complete a pre-trial diversion program getting a free pass for an attempted stabbing a LEO.

What is the Beckman's up to now?

The happy couple currently resides in Missouri where Nurse Erin Kartis Beckman was able to advance in her nursing career while accumulating an astronomical amount of debt.

& just think, if it wasn't for the Florida Department of Corrections this happy union would have never been. Who said you can't find love in prison?
