South Florida's Rise In AntiSemitism: 2021

There has been a serious increase in antisemitic incidents here in South Florida. Where is the outrage within our own Jewish community? Where are our Jewish leaders & government officials speaking out to the public to condemn these targeted hate crimes

While they have been tone-deaf silent; Anthony Barroso a good Samaritan has done more to stand up for our South Florida Jewish community & speak up against antisemitism. Hate is hate but, it is loud and clear that Jew-hate is stagnated water compared to other social justice issues here in America.
Another alleged incident of antisemitism is being investigated by the Palm Beach County School District. This time, Olympic Heights High School is the scene of the graffiti you see in the photo above. It was found on Wednesday, according to sources reporting to BocaNewsNow.com. Its discovery led to the following message being sent to parents by Olympic Heights Principal Kelly Burke:

“Administration was made aware today of antisemitic and other highly inappropriate graffiti located in a student restroom on our campus. School Police are currently investigating, trying to determine the source of this vulgar display, scribbled on a wall. The District will address the individual once identified. The District takes a strict stance regarding combating antisemitic activity and is committed to educating our students regarding this horrific watershed event in history.

By imparting students with a deeper understanding of the ramifications of prejudice, intolerance, and stereotyping, we can combat antisemitism, discrimination, and bigotry.

Our District makes available a wide range of grade level appropriate resources, lectures and interactive lessons that address the unmistakable gravity of intolerance and discrimination, and will continue to promote a campus that embraces our diversities and challenge all forms of prejudice. As always, please reach out to the school with any questions or concerns, and thank you for your continued support of Olympic Heights Community.”

The graffiti follows another incident reported first by BocaNewsNow.com. Students identified as part of the Olympic Heights community were videotaped in Nazi uniforms and saluting a “fake” Adolph Hitler. That, too, led to a message from the principal.

The Palm Beach County School Board received national attention last year when it officially fired the former principal of Spanish River High School. He told a parent, concerned over minimal Holocaust education, that it wasn’t for him to decide whether the Holocaust happened or not.

Victoria Zirkiev, the producer for Israeli music star Gad Elbaz, and her husband were traveling to the Sunshine State for business when the incident occurred.
She says that as they were waiting in line to disembark from the plane, her husband lowered his mask for a moment to catch his breath, as the plane had become very hot.
Immediately as he pulled his mask down, a man in his 20’s yelled at him to put his mask back on. Not wishing to make a scene, the Jewish man politely pulled the mask up again.

But the antisemite wasn’t finished with them.

As the Jewish couple entered the terminal, they removed their masks – as they are legally allowed to – and the man went after them again, saying, “why don’t you put your masks on, you [expletive] Jews!”

The antisemite then began to physically assault the Jewish man, shoving him, prompting a response from the couple, who both began fighting back against the hate-filled aggressor, forcing him to back off.
He continued to accost them through the airport, berating them for removing their masks.

“This is America, not Nazi Germany. Unfortunately, antisemitism is alive and well,” Victoria said. “Jews get blamed for everything. My parents left their country to escape antisemitism, on for their children to experience it in America.”
MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – Detectives are searching for an anti-Semitic vandal who targeted a historic temple with a hostile message on Sunday, during the last day of Hannukah.

The vandal used spray paint to draw a swastika on the door of Temple Emanu-EL at Washington Avenue and 17th Street in Miami Beach.

“Every time something like this happens it’s very shocking — particularly during the week of Hannukah when we try to increase light in the world — and you have an act like this that is meant to bring darkness in the world,” Rabbi Mark Philippe said.

The temple, which was built in 1948, is just southeast of the Miami Beach Convention Center where Art Basel Miami Beach was recently held.

Officers are asking anyone with information about the identity of the vandal to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.

Radical mosques educate members using unfiltered teachings of the Quran.
The Islamic Center of Weston (ICW) was incorporated in the state of Florida, in July 2014, and moved to its present location in November 2016. In its short time in existence, the mosque has brought in a number of terror and hate-associated extremists through its doors.
HOMESTEAD, Fla.A trespasser scaled a fence at the Homestead Jewish Center on Saturday to hang a banner with an anti-Semitic message ahead of Hanukkah, a Jewish festival also known as the Festival of Lights.

The Greater Miami Jewish Federation and the Anti-Defamation League released a statement on Monday saying the banner used shorthand references to neo-Nazi, white supremacist, and alt-right ideals.

“Hate crimes may target individuals or single institutions, but are generally done to send a message of fear and intimidation to entire communities – and so entire communities must denounce these insidious acts,” Sarah Emmons, the regional director of ADL Florida, said in a statement.

The Homestead Police Department is investigating the incident at 183 NE 8th St. Jacob Solomon, the president and chief executive officer of the Greater Miami Jewish Federation, also released a statement saying they view the incident as a hate crime.

“The Jewish community will not be intimidated by such blatant attempts to frighten us into hiding our identity. We have always been and will continue to be proudly and outwardly Jewish.”

The community leaders are asking anyone with information about the incident to call 305-247-1535 or Miami-Dade County Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.
HOLLYWOOD, Fla. – A man who was driving a white pickup truck stole a 6-foot tall Hanukkah menorah from a home on Saturday in Hollywood.

On Monday, the Chabad of Dania Beach delivered a 9-foot menorah to the home. Rabbi Eli Eckstein said he wanted to send a message of resilience.

“Instead of feeling depressed or upset, we are going to spread it even more,” Eckstein said. “We are going to light it and have the entire community come out.”

Jews around the world started the annual eight-day celebration, also known as the Festival of Lights, on Sunday at sundown.

Witnesses in the Emerald Hills neighborhood told the homeowner they saw the man driving around with the family’s silver menorah, which is made out of aluminum.

Detectives are asking anyone with information about the stolen menorah to call Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477.
TALLAHASSEE — “F- - - off and die.”

Those were the final words, delivered in an angry crescendo, of a profanity-laced, anti-Semitic death threat received by state Sen. Tina Polsky on Tuesday.

The tirade from the unidentified female caller lasted one minute but managed to threaten Polsky’s safety — “We’re going to drag your a - - out. " It called her a racist, insulted her religion and diminished her suffering from breast cancer.

Polsky, a Boca Raton Democrat, received the call on the voice machine of her district office nearly two weeks after she went public with her decision to ask Florida Surgeon General Joseph Ladapo to leave her office because he wouldn’t wear a face covering.

Miami Cop Fired for Calling Jewish Scripture "Trash" Resurfaces

A month after a gunman murdered 11 worshipers in a November 2018 mass shooting inside a Pittsburgh synagogue, Miami Police officer Roberto Destephan made international headlines when a 12-second, self-recorded video surfaced and the world was treated to the sight of him tossing sacred Jewish texts and a case inscribed with the Star of David into the back of an empty pickup truck.

"This crap — fuck this," Destephan says as he hurls the texts into the truck. "Taking out the trash, dawg."

In January of 2019, over objections from the police union, the Miami Police Department fired Destephan, citing a "moral character" violation. The Anti-Defamation League released a statement saying, "We want to believe that law enforcement will always be there to protect us, regardless of who we are and how we pray. However, this incident erodes that belief and cripples the trust the community places in police."

Fast-forward to September 2021: New Times received a tip that Destephan was working for another local police department.
AVENTURA, Fla. – A physical assault at the pool of a South Florida resort hotel was caught on camera, and the suspect may face hate charges.

It happened on Sunday at the J.W. Marriott Miami Turnberry Resort and Spa in Aventura.

The suspect, Marcos Rodriguez, can be seen in the video slapping the victim, Alain Altit, in the face as they stood by the children’s pool area of the hotel’s resort water park, Tidal Cove.

According to Aventura police, Rodriguez’s wife called a woman at the water park a “dirty Jew.”

“I think some of her bathing suit water fell on his towel. She was apologetic,” said Tanya Cohen, the victim’s wife.

When Altit confronted Rodriguez, that’s when police said he got slapped in front of his wife and five children.

His wife can be seen in the video.

“The guy was definitely trying to pick a fight with a Jew,” she said. “We are in 2021. This shouldn’t be happening anymore.”

She added: “There’s no room for anti-Semitism. It’s enough.”

Major Michael Bentolila with Aventura police spoke with Local 10 News about the incident.

“We take any threat to anyone seriously, especially if it has to do with race, ethnicity, anything along those lines,” Bentolila said.

The person who took the video started yelling, “I got it, I got it,” after the slap.

“If our investigation leads us any further, there could be an enhanced hate crime,” Bentolila said.

Rodriguez told police Altit threatened him, and that’s why he slapped him.

The video and witnesses told a different story, however, and it was Rodriguez who was arrested and taken to jail.

“In 2021, there is no room for anti-Semitism,” Cohen said.
FORT LAUDERDALE, FLA. (WSVN) - A woman said she is outraged after she went to a gas station in Fort Lauderdale and spotted swastikas on one of the masks the business had for sale.

Speaking with 7News on Thursday, Kelly Wagner said she had quite the morning at the Shell station along Powerline Road, near Cypress Creek Road.

“I went straight to the register, and there were three masks: one was the Miami Heat, another was a brand name that I was not familiar with, but right in the middle was a mask that had swastikas with eagles underneath them,” she said.

The black mask with white swastikas printed on it was taped to the plexiglass on the front counter. Wagner said she immediately pulled out her cellphone.

“I took some pictures, and I asked the woman behind the counter if she was aware that Shell was selling swastika face masks,” she said, “and she looked and was rather flippant and said, ‘Yes.’ I was mortified at having seen it. I was even more mortified at the flippancy with which her response to me was.”

When 7News asked a sales clerk at the station about the mask, she said they no longer had that mask available. “The last one was sold,” said the employee. “We buy from vendors, so it sells.”

When asked whether she was offended by the mask, the sales clerk replied, “Ma’am, I work here, so no matter what, we have to sell what the store has.”

“There’s absolutely no need for it. It’s nothing but destructive, and it’s hurtful. It’s hateful, and there’s no place for it,” said Wagner.

Speaking to 7News over the phone, Sazzad Hossais, the manager of the gas station, said they buy boxes of masks from a private vendor.

“They sell us, like, Nike, Adidas, this type of stuff inside the box, so it’s not our fault, and personally, I don’t want to sell those kinds of stuff,” Hossais said, “so, in the morning, I found it, I talked to the [vendor], I said, ‘No more,’ and returned everything.” Hosseis said they will not sell those masks again.

“It’s good, that’s excellent, but that makes me question why those went up in the first place,” said Wagner.

7News reached out to the station’s parent company, First Coast Energy, to see whether they will be releasing a statement, but as of Thursday night, we have not received a response.
HIALEAH, FLA. (WSVN) - Vandals have targeted a Cuban travel and shipping agency in Hialeah by spraying swastikas on their windows.

The owner of Cubamax said this was the result of someone falsely claiming online that he is a cousin of Cuban leader Miguel Díaz-Canel and that the company receives direct orders from the president.

The company issued a statement Monday to reiterate and clarify that there is no family link between the two.

NORTH MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – Police arrested a Hialeah man on Tuesday after an investigation into reports that he was making anti-Semitic remarks and gestures in front of Jewish-owned pizzeria on and off for months.

On May 20, police were called to Jerusalem Pizza on Northeast 167th Street in reference to multiple suspicious incident complaints, according to a police report.

Joseph Manson, the owner of Jerusalem Pizza told Local 10 News, “We’re not going to take it. We’re not scared. We’re not afraid.”

A police report details the anti-Jewish words and gestures that police said Christian Santamaria, 39, a Hialeah mechanic of Mexican origin, according to the report, was doing and saying when he would park in the shopping plaza’s lot and approach the business.

Manson said that for several months, a man in white Honda Accord would park his car, come up to the front of the restaurant and begin yelling phrases such as:

“Hail Hitler!, F---- the Jews!, You should’ve all been burned in the gas chambers and Hitler should have killed all you Jewish.”

Manson said he had also seen the man, later identified as Santamaria, raise his right arm to simulate a Nazi salute.

According to the police report, Santamaria’s first reported rant in front of the shop was on Dec. 21, 2020, when he began to shout “I hate the Jewish” and simulated the Nazi salute to the store owner and patrons of the business.

He returned a little more than two hours later making more anti-Semitic comments and gestures, according to the police report. The license plate number of Santamaria’s car was reportedly captured on a cell-phone photo.

On May 13, 2021, a woman called police to say she was parked in front of the pizza shop and the driver of a white Honda Accord parked next to her began to yell: “Why didn’t Hitler throw all of you in the ocean?,’ ‘F------ Jews.”

She took cell phone videos of the car’s license plate.
HALLANDALE BEACH, FLA. (WSVN) - A man on an electric bicycle returned to a Hallandale Beach synagogue days after, police and witnesses said, he spewed antisemitic messages and left a bag filled with feces outside of the house of worship.

Surveillance cameras captured the man as he dropped a cooler outside of Chabad of South Broward along East Hallandale Beach Boulevard, Sunday.

Inside the cooler was what appeared to be human waste.
Hallandale Beach Police quickly showed up to the Chabad and try to catch the man, but he took off.

7News cameras captured the man as he pedaled away.
Friday afternoon, cellphone video captured the same man as he shouted antisemitic slurs to a rabbi outside of the synagogue.

He is also accused of spitting at the menorah in front of the building. Just hours
later, witnesses said, he dropped the first bag of feces.
HALLANDALE BEACH, FLA. (WSVN) - Police are investigating after, they said a man hurled antisemitic remarks to a rabbi outside a Hallandale Beach synagogue and later emptied a bag of human feces, the latest in a string of incidents that have raised concerns in South Florida’s Jewish community.

Cellphone video captured the man on an electric bicycle as he went on a rant outside the Chabad of South Broward, along East Hallandale Beach Boulevard, at around 12:30 p.m., Friday.

“The Jewish bastard pulled a pistol on me,” he said at one point during the tirade.

He took off shortly after.

Police said the subject returned sometime later and spit at the menorah located near the sidewalk in front of the building.

Hallandale Beach Police Capt. RaShana Dabney-Donovan said the man did not stop there.

“Apparently, a young lady who was picking up her daughter from the Chabad witnessed this Black male dump what appeared to be a large bag or a pillowcase or some white cloth that contained human feces,” she said.

The woman who witnessed the incident, who asked not to be identified or show her face on camera, said she was picking up her daughter from school at around 3:30 p.m.

“All of a sudden, I see this man standing there, no shoes. He was wearing a white tunic,” she said.

When she started to approach him, the woman said, he put down the bag and walked away.

“I approached to see what was in the fabric, and it was feces,” she said.

The woman said she tried to follow the man.

“When he noticed I was following him, he started yelling, ‘[Expletive] Jews, you should not be doing this,'” she said.

According to the police report, once the man was done emptying the bag of feces, witnesses said he shouted, “Jews should die!”

Hallandale Beach Commissioner Anabelle Lima-Taub said it’s no accident these incidents happened days after an 11-day conflict between Israel and Hamas that has since led to a cease-fire.

“It seems that every time there is an uprising or a situation globally or nationally, easily identifiable members of our religious community, specifically the Orthodox Jewish community, are a target,” she said.

Back on May 14, police said, a Hallandale Beach man reported having rocks thrown at him as he walked back from the Chabad.

“It’s very important for us to combat these types of incidents,” said Dabney-Donovan.

Down in Miami-Dade County, antisemitic incidents, including defacing of property, have been reported in just the last few weeks.

That’s why Lima-Taub said she has proposed a hate crime task force.

“Specifically to deal with hate crimes against our marginalized groups,” she said.

As for what happened on Friday, the witness who spoke with 7News said she won’t let it intimidate her.

“We are always going to be here. We’re never going to leave, and we are always going to be courageous for the people who have died in our families before it,” she said.

A gun owner intervened to help a Jewish family in Miami, Florida who were being harassed in an anti-Semitic incident that occurred Tuesday evening, reported Fox News.

Upon leaving a synagogue in Bal Harbour, a village in Miami-Dade County, Eric Orgen, his wife and their 16-year old daughter were walking on the sidewalk when a group of men in an SUV pulled up and began screaming and throwing garbage at them.

Orgen, whose family is from New Jersey, recounted the ordeal to WPEC-TV. “They just started screaming some derogatory things towards Jewish people out the window. My first thought was just making sure my wife and daughter were behind me so I could take the brunt of anything that was going to happen."

Orgen said the men shouted offensive phrases such as, "Free Palestine!," "Die Jew!," “**** you Jew," and "I’m gonna rape your wife."

They proceeded to throw garbage out of their SUV at the Jewish family.

A passing motorist, who was carrying a gun, and who witnessed the attack, intervened on the family’s behalf. He got out of his vehicle and defended the family, chasing away the anti-Semites’ car.

"The guy in the car behind them saw everything go on," Orgen told the station. "I saw him pull a gun and get in between - I mean he was almost there as our guardian angel, just protecting us. I think once they saw him they just took off."
BAL HARBOUR, FLA. (WSVN) - A New Jersey family said they were the target of an antisemitic attack while they walked along a busy roadway in Bal Harbour.

A vacation to the Sunshine State took a dark turn for the Orgen family when they said, they had a run-in with a group spewing antisemitism.

“It was one of our Jewish holidays. We were visiting in Florida,” victim Jamie Orgen said. “We saw a white SUV, four people in the car, rolled their windows down and were harassing the other Jews that were walking near us, yelling ‘Free Palestine, F- you, Jews. Die, Jews.'”

Organ, who is 16, and her father, Eric Orgen, said it happened at around 7 p.m. on Tuesday near Collins Avenue and Harbour Way.

“I mean, my first instinct was to put Jamie and my wife and the friend that we were with just behind me in case anything happened, I would take the brunt of whatever it was,” Eric said.

Then, the Orgens said the people in the SUV turned their attention towards them.
“Then, they started yelling at us, yelling horrible things,” Jamie said. “‘We’re going to rape your wife. We’re going rape your daughter.'”
However, the Orgens said it was not just insults and vulgar language that was hurled their way.

”Threw some garbage at us, a cup of water, I believe,” Jamie said.

The Orgens said a good Samaritan jumped in to help the family.

“A gentleman in the car behind them actually got in between, and he showed a gun to get them to get away from us, and they took off,” Eric said.

Tuesday’s incident is the latest example of a recent string of antisemitic acts in South Florida.

Days prior, Nazi markings were painted on a Miami bus stop.

“This stuff is not OK,” said a woman regarding the bus stop.

Last week, a van covered with hateful messages aimed at the Jewish community was also spotted in Miami.

The acts occurred as tensions between Israel and Hamas remain high, although the two parties have since agreed to a cease-fire. Eric said a video shot by his daughter in Israel shows the conflict unfold.

Back in Bal Harbour, Mayor Gabriel Groisman spoke out about the latest incident and a rise in hateful behavior across the country.

“These are all horrific incidents that are happening,” he said. “The Jewish community is responding with strength and with pride, and we will not cower in fear because of some incidents from individuals like this.”

As for the Orgens, they have filed a police report and hope the people involved are caught quickly.

“I do perceive this as a hate crime,” Eric said. “It’s a scary world we live in, but the world is big enough for everybody to live peacefully. We all bleed red.”

Miami-Dade Mayor Daniella Levine Cava also recently spoke out against any acts of antisemitism. Bal Harbour Police are searching for the people involved in the latest incident.

If you have any information on this antisemitic act, call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS. Remember, you can always remain anonymous, and you may be eligible for a reward of up to $5,000.
MIAMI (WSVN) - Police in downtown Miami arrested a suspect allegedly behind an anti-Semitic message on a van, but a judge ruled he did nothing wrong.

All charges have been dropped against 33-year-old Joseph Bounds, who traveled from Denver, Colorado to South Florida earlier this week.

7News cameras captured Bounds shortly after he was released from jail, Friday. He wore a mask with an anti-Semitic meme.

“The truth will set you free. Always seek the truth,” he said.

Bounds said he’s ready to share his message.

“Yup, just to inform people about the truth, who the oppressors are,” he said.

Video of the van showed messages such as “Hitler was right” and “Jews killed Jesus” sprayed on its body.

Todd Amelung-Wilson, the man who recorded the video, said he was startled by the messages.

“My sister and I were just shaken,” he said. “I couldn’t believe anybody could even have that written on a car. It just seems so — just such a belligerence and so terrible.”

Bounds was seen standing next to the van in the video.

Police said he was a passenger in the vehicle when they conducted a traffic stop, Thursday.

Investigators said Bounds stepped too close to traffic as he recorded what was happening, and when officers told him to move, he refused to comply.

He was arrested for resisting and failure to obey an officer.

The van Bounds was riding in made the rounds in South Florida. On Wednesday, it rolled slowly by a rally for peace in Israel held in Boca Raton.

Bounds appeared before a judge on Friday morning. There was no mention of what was written on the van.

While his time in South Florida may have offended a lot of people, the judge found Bounds did not break the law.

“It smacks to me they didn’t like being filmed,” the judge said, “so Joseph, listen, there’s prosecutors who read this, and they kind of agree with the reading between the lines like me, and they’re going to dismiss this case, so you’re about to be released.”

Bounds said he doesn’t know how long he’s going to be in South Florida, and he’s still trying to get in touch with his group.

Aric Frydberg, 36, was arrested Sunday for threatening Rabbi Moshe Avital at Shuva Israel Synagogue in northeast Miami-Dade.

Frydberg appeared in court Monday, where tried to downplay the threats.
"This was verbal. I didn't put my hand on anybody," Frydberg told the judge.

According to an arrest report, Frydberg went to the synagogue on April 18 and met with Avital about money that Frydberg claimed was owed to his girlfriend.

Avital said he wasn't aware of any money owed, but Frydberg allegedly threatened to publish defamatory posts about Avital online, the report said.

The report said Frydberg left voicemails for the rabbi's son, saying he was going to chop his hand off. He also allegedly confronted a synagogue security guard, saying he was going to damage all the cars in the parking lot, the report said.

In court Monday, Frydberg insisted on representing himself. The judge set his bond at $7,500 and ordered him not to have contact with the rabbi or his family.

It isn't the first time Frydberg has been in trouble with the law. Court records showed he was out on bond for various past felonies, including battery on a police officer and possession of drug paraphernalia.

In another case, Frydberg claimed to know Donald Trump when calling a 911 dispatcher, records showed.
A South Florida rabbi became the victim of a smash and dash after, he said, vandals threw bricks at two of his vehicles.

Rabbi Avraham Barash said the incident was the most upsetting start to the Sabbath since he moved into his Hollywood home in 2005.

“Quite a while. Never seen anything like this,” he said. “We were shocked to see that all the windows were smashed from the two cars that were parked in front of our house.”

Barash said the person or people responsible took aim outside his residence along Hill Drive, sometime Friday night.

“They threw bricks, over 10 bricks were thrown at the car, damaging the cars and windows,” he said. “My children were scared coming out of the house to see something like this.”

Barash said the family’s surveillance cameras weren’t working, so they have no idea who was responsible.

His license plate has a word familiar to Orthodox Jews, but he has no way of knowing whether that’s what motivated the vandal or vandals.
“It could be that we were targeted, but we don’t know,” he said. “It could be just teenagers or children coming by, wanting to have some fun and causing us all this damage.”

Barash has filed a report with Hollywood Police. While they work the case, he has a word of advice for parents.

“We should teach our children love and kindness, respect for our neighbor,” he said.

If you have any information on this incident, call Hollywood Police or Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS. Remember, you can always remain anonymous, and you may be eligible for a reward of up to $5,000.
A man wanted for multiple anti-Semitic graffiti incidents in Coral Gables has been arrested, police said Tuesday.

Benjamin Michael Garcia, 30, is facing criminal mischief vandalism charges for multiple incidents dating back to March 27, Coral Gables Police said.

Officials said Garcia vandalized several construction sites and buildings in Coral Gables as well as neighboring jurisdictions.

SOUTHWEST MIAMI-DADE, FLA. (WSVN) - South Floridians expressed outrage and concern after the wall of a cement plant was defaced with an anti-Semitic message, the latest act of vandalism in a troubling trend.

The phrase “Communism is Judaism” was spray-painted on the outer wall of the plant located along the 7300 block of Southwest 48th Street in Southwest Miami-Dade, along with a web address linked to an anti-Semitic video sharing site."

Police are investigating a troubling trend across South Florida after vandals spray-painted anti-Semitic messages in two locations in Miami-Dade County, one day after the same tag was spotted in Miami.

7News cameras captured one of the tags, which read “Communism is Judaism,” at a construction site on the corner of Red Road and Southwest 40th Street in Southwest Miami-Dade.
Not far from there, along Alhambra Circle in Coral Gables, the same message was spray-painted.
Shoshana Bicky said she spotted the graffiti and alerted police.
“I was, like, shaking in my car, basically. Oh, my goodness, it’s not just one incident, it’s three incidents along the same street,” she said. “I mean, it’s disgusting, it’s absolutely disgusting.”

This current FIU student spends his free time posting antisemitic, anti-Jewish conspiracy theories on his social media accounts while advancing his healthcare profession.
The phrase “Communism is Judaism” was spray-painted on the wall of an auto center in Miami. By Saturday morning, it had been painted over.

“The person who did this, they seem to be conflating Judaism with communism, but in truth, they seem to know the most about vandalism,” said Nierman.
HALLANDALE BEACH, FLA. (WSVN) - Vandals marked a car that belongs to a Holocaust survivor in Hallandale Beach with two swastikas and spray-painted an anti-Semitic message on the wall of an auto center in Miami, just before the start of Passover.

According to the website StopAntiSemitism.org, the disturbing discovery in Hallandale Beach was made Friday.

Evan Nierman, a member of the Jewish community and the CEO of the South Florida public relations firm Red Banyan, addressed the vandalism.

“It’s a terrible occurrence anytime, but that’s especially so on the eve of a Jewish holiday,” he said. “It’s just really sad that, in this day and age, Jewish people are still finding themselves under assault and under attack.”

StopAntiSemitism.org, part of a nonprofit foundation, shared a picture of the marked vehicle on Twitter. The symbols appeared to have been traced by hand on the car owner’s fogged-up rear windshield.

“It’s particularly sad that this happened to someone who endured the ultimate anti-Semitic act, which was the Holocaust,” said Nierman.

7News reached out to some members of the Jewish community in South Florida who said this act is “sickening.” In observance of the Sabbath, they declined to go on camera.

Nierman said Red Banyan represents many Jewish clients.

“Unfortunately, what we saw in South Florida over the last day or two has been a continuation of something that Jewish people have had to endure for literally thousands of years,” he said.

The incident in Hallandale Beach was not isolated.

An Orthodox Jewish family says they were kicked off a flight out of Miami after a young child wasn’t wearing a mask.
Anti-Semitic and racist graffiti has become a troubling trend across South Florida. Now, religious and community leaders are addressing the problem.

Anthony Barroso earned praise from his alma mater, St. Thomas University, as well as local leaders on Tuesday for taking a stand against anti-Semitism last week.
Police in Davie are investigating after a shopping plaza was targeted by a vandal who spray-painted anti-Semitic slurs.

According to a 7News viewer, the vandal defaced a Chase bank sign at the University Plaza, located off University Drive and Miramar Parkway, most likely early Saturday morning.

The viewer said other businesses and areas of the plaza also vandalized with offensive messages, including a box truck, a Fresh Kitchen restaurant and the University Plaza sign.

Spraypainted just inches from a memorial to those lost on Sept. 11, 2001 were the words “Jews did this.”

The statue itself is made from a piece of steel beam from the twin towers.
Firefighters at Station 3 were able to wash the words away, but the message brought pain all the way to the top of the county.
A man was arrested Sunday evening for attempting to forcibly enter the Shul of Bal Harbor, one of the largest synagogues in South Florida.
He was overheard speaking Arabic and appeared to be under the influence, a source said.

When approached by a security official, he began running towards the large building of The Shul located on Collins Avenue in Surfside.
Rob Raymond, the owner of Dr’s Toy Store in Pembroke Park, said he came to his medical equipment business on Monday to find symbols of hate spray-painted on the walls.

“There were three huge swastikas: one over here, one on that side of the building and one over on the end,” he said, “and then it said, ‘Convict Trump!'”

Pictures of the defaced building show the vandal also spray-painted the word “Nazi.”
